Not all firewood burns the same. The wood type determines how easily your fire lights, how long it burns and how much heat it produces. At Giant Flames, we offer a wide range of kiln-dried firewood that is ready to use – safe, efficient and with a lovely crackling fire. But which type do you choose when?
Birch wood – quick, beautiful and light
Birch wood is a popular wood type for those who want a warm fire quickly. It lights easily, gives a lively flame pattern and a pleasant smell. Because birch wood is somewhat softer, it is perfect for shorter burning sessions, for example on an autumn evening or in a small fireplace. It splits easily, making it also ideal for novice burners.
Alder wood – quick to light, gentle fire
Like birch, alder wood is a lighter wood type that ignites easily. It burns quickly and gives a gentle, calm fire. Ideal for supplementary heating or atmosphere, for example in a garden fireplace or open fireplace in the intermediate season. Alder wood is also popular because of the subtle smell and gentle crackling.
Ash wood – stable and powerful
Ash wood is a real all-rounder. It burns slightly slower than birch or alder, but produces more heat and a longer glow. Due to its high density, ash wood is perfect for those who burn regularly, for example in a stove. The combustion is clean and the wood hardly sparks. An excellent choice for those looking for balance between atmosphere and efficiency.
Oak wood – for the experienced burner
Oak wood is a hard, dense wood type that burns long and delivers plenty of heat. Perfect for large stoves or extended burning sessions on cold winter days. Note: oak wood must be really dry – as with Giant Flames – otherwise it can spit or smoke. If you light your stove in the evening and still want heat during the night, this is your wood.
Mixed firewood – for convenience and balance
Don’t feel like choosing? Then mixed firewood is a handy solution. Available in soft and hard varieties or as a mix. You get a combination of quick start-up and long burning time, without compromising on quality.
Whatever you burn, choose quality
All our firewood is kiln-dried to below 20% moisture, ready to use and safe for your stove or fireplace. No hassle with drying, no excessive smoke, but guaranteed combustion. Choose the wood that suits your situation, fireplace type and wishes, and make every fire moment an experience.
Whether you choose a short atmospheric evening or a whole night of heat, Giant Flames has the right firewood for your fire. Always reliable, always dry, always ready for a good story by the fire.
