Beer can chicken deluxe

Juicy chicken with crispy skin – slow-cooked with fire and guts
Who is this for?
For outdoor cooks who love both show and flavor. Ideal for weekend barbecues or a party with friends.
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken (approx. 1.5 kg)
- 1 can of beer (drinking half is allowed)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- Salt and pepper
- Optional: fresh thyme or rosemary
You will need:
- Kettle barbecue or Kamado
- Coconut briquettes (for long-lasting, steady cooking)
- Optional smoking wood (apple or cherry for extra aroma)
- Chicken holder or can stand

Here’s how to make it:
- Preparation
Rub the chicken with oil and seasonings. Light the coconut briquettes and ensure indirect heat (approx. 175°C). Add smoking wood for extra flavor. - Setting up
Place the can of beer in the holder, place the chicken upright over it (like a throne). Place in the center of the BBQ, with the lid closed. - Cooking
Cook the chicken for 60-90 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 75°C. The skin will turn golden brown and crispy, while the inside remains juicy. - Serving
Let the chicken rest for a moment, carve it at the table for maximum effect. Delicious with baked potatoes or grilled vegetables.
Tip:
Wrap the can in aluminum foil for extra stability and less cleaning.
