Smoky salmon with lemon and dill; elegantly prepared over an open flame.
Who is it for?
For lovers of fish, smoky flavors, and finesse. A showstopper that’s still easy to make.
Ingredients:
- 1 salmon fillet (approx. 1 kg)
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- Fresh dill
- Salt and pepper
- Olive oil
You’ll need:
- Open grill or BBQ with a lid
- Cedar plank (soaked in water for at least 30 minutes)
- Charcoal or coconut briquettes

Here’s how to make it:
Preparation
Pat the salmon dry. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and dill, and top with lemon slices. Drizzle with oil.
Plank on the grill
Place the soaked cedar plank on the grill rack over indirect heat. Let it smoke for a moment, then place the salmon on top.
Cooking
Close the lid and cook for 20–30 minutes until the salmon is just done. Keep the temperature around 160–180 °C.
Serving
Serve directly from the plank. Delicious with green asparagus or a fresh salad.
Tip:
Don’t have cedar wood? Beech or alder wood will work too, but cedar adds that unique touch.
