Roasted chestnuts over an open fire

  • 500 g fresh chestnuts
  • Coarse sea salt
  • A little butter, if desired

You will need:

  • Fire pit, OFYR, or BBQ with a grate
  • Wood or charcoal
  • Stainless steel pan or chestnut pan

Here’s how to make it:

Preparation
Score a cross in each chestnut with a sharp knife.
Roasting
Roast them in a dry pan over the heat, shaking them regularly. They’re ready in about 15–20 minutes when they start to split open.
Peeling
Let them cool briefly, then peel while they’re still warm.
Serving
Sprinkle with salt or melt some butter over them. Enjoy!
